The university became a cornerstone of European intellectual life, nurturing generations of scholars in theology, law, medicine, and philosophy.
The reverse features a regal portrait of Rudolf IV wearing a crown and ceremonial robes, symbolizing his legacy as a patron of education and culture. The inscription “1365 UNIVERSITÄT WIEN 1965 RUDOLF DER STIFTER” encircles the design, anchoring the coin in historical reverence. The obverse displays Austria’s heraldic shields surrounding the denomination “50 SCHILLING,” framed by “REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH.”
